Mimeomia: How easy is it to stereotype?

Is it that easy to fit into a stereotype?
Ever thought, how easy is it to make assumptions about people than it is to spend time getting to know someone?

Because we're so busy assuming we already "know" a person, we often test our assumptions to see what we're missing. We are all conditioned with certain biases and to challenge these biases is where the actual effort lies in.

Stereotypes don't just emerge; they're built on beliefs and experiences with particular individual or groups, which are then expanded to include an entirety. We frequently struggle to comprehend that complexity when we think about other people, particularly those who hold ideas that are different from our own or who have a different culture or set of values. Thus, we categorise people, making way for stereotypes.

Our perception of the "other" often grows as we start to engage with people who are different from ourselves. It's crucial to bring to the surface the constant tape of stories we tell ourselves about other people. As stereotypes are frequently refuted, it becomes more difficult to perpetuate them.

Mimeomia delves further into how this play of assumptions operate in our milieu, such as our universities.
